Terms of service
These terms govern use of ClueStep, which is operated by Steady Steps Parenting LLC. By creating a family account or purchasing a plan, you agree to them as the parent or legal guardian responsible for that account.
Learning support
ClueStep is designed to offer hints, questions, and feedback on a student’s work. Responses can be incomplete or incorrect and should not replace a teacher, school curriculum, or professional educational evaluation.
Family accounts
Adults create and manage accounts and learner profiles. You are responsible for account security, the accuracy of information you provide, and supervising use by children. Do not upload content that exposes another person’s private information or that you do not have permission to share.
Plans and add-ons
The family plan costs $67.10 per year or $6.99 per month. Both include 60 homework sessions per month; an annual plan refreshes its allowance monthly. It renews automatically until canceled. A 20-session add-on costs $1.99 while a family plan is active and $2.99 without one, and does not expire while the account remains available. Prices and included usage may change for future billing periods after reasonable notice; a family already subscribed keeps the price it signed up at until we give notice of a change.
You can cancel through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Payments are processed by Stripe. Except where required by law, charges already incurred are non-refundable. We do not charge automatic overage fees.
A free family account includes ten homework questions each month, with no card required, and the allowance refreshes for as long as the account is open. Unused questions do not carry over to the next month, and the allowance is shared across the learners in the household. The five questions available without an account are counted against the household’s first allowance if the same device creates an account. A credit is used when helpful coaching starts on a new question. Follow-up messages, transcription corrections and linked practice use no additional homework credit. Clarification of an unreadable photo does not use a credit. Separate request limits still apply. A different homework question starts a new session; correcting a transcription resets earlier answer checks.
Quick Clues and custom rewards
Kudos recognize completed practice and are not a measure of mastery, grades or intelligence. Kudos are not money: they cannot be purchased, transferred, cashed out or used to pay ClueStep. Completing a reward goal does not buy a product from us.
A custom reward is a promise made and fulfilled by the parent or teacher who creates it. That adult chooses an appropriate reward and is responsible for any cost, permission or delivery. ClueStep tracks progress but does not fund rewards, issue App Store credit or guarantee that an adult will deliver a promised reward.
Goals count new kudos earned after the goal was created by its selected participants. A goal can require every selected learner to reach a target or use a clearly labeled pooled target. Kudos are not deducted from a learner's lifetime score when a goal is reached or delivered. A displayed target date does not erase earned progress. Hints and supported completion are allowed; repeat completions cannot repeatedly earn kudos, and daily earning limits apply.
Classrooms are private, teacher-managed groups. Teachers must have permission to offer a classroom activity and reward. Parents enroll family learners; eligible self-managed learners choose whether to enroll themselves. Teachers do not gain access to family accounts. Do not pressure students to share scores publicly, purchase rewards, or disclose sensitive information in a nickname or reward description.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service, evade usage limits, probe its security, automate excessive requests, or use it to cheat on graded work contrary to school rules. We may limit or suspend access needed to protect students, other families, or the service.
Availability and liability
The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We work to keep it useful and secure but cannot promise uninterrupted operation or a particular academic result. To the extent permitted by law, ClueStep is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service.
